Note on March 8 Programme Committee Meeting

Addis: alan, bruno, peter, shirley, wubalem, mohamadou NBO: iain, delia, bonnie

Update on different sessions:

Session 1. Mohamadou is ok to organise and lead this. Need to find an MC for the session. and determine the speakers and process.

Sessions 2 and 3 closely linked

themes to put some kind of short position papers in advance to be presented in these 2 sessions. theme directors, nancy, mario, bonnie, iain

Delia and Mario .. Have 2 external speakers confirmed. Delia needs to contact Mario soon. Process not to be too ppt based? But does need to set the whole scene. Need to keep the external speakers informed on the process. Mix the process up a bit.

Delia to send a short holding message to the external speakers - on content and expectations.

Session 4. Bruno, Liz, and Peter. Mid next week have definite proposal. Mix of fun and serious. To facilitate getting to know about ILRI.

Session 5. Iain and Ranjitha

1. get perspectives from dev partners what they can expect from ILRI (and vice versa) 2. what are we learning from these types of development projects and how do we share across?

process: role-playing (mock phone conversations) .. outsiders calling into ilri..... 5-7 minute conversations. followed by some plenary discussion. with standard set of questions.

a 'real' phone call with Heifer?

possible ilri calling a dev partner? what about IPMS? Abdou Fall?

expect different types of issues/questions to arise from different partners..

will externals be up for this sort of novel approach? Iain to contact the speakers..

Session 6 Ranjitha and Bruno.

draw in (mainly) cg partners from here in Addis. who can say something about livestock goods and bads. not too many. focus on the gaps ...

process: no text. to illustrate a perceived, good, a bad, a gap

risk of east africa/ET focus. How do we get beyond?

pick people that have something to say - skip icarda and cip?? could give different roles to different people.

look for way to involve all? 6 presenters, other roles for the others?

Session 7 Marketplace suggestions for livestock matters speakers mini-workshops

Session 8 group session pull out the issues from the previous days facilitate engagement by staff id follow up for afterwards

process: how do we capture the outputs from the previous sessions? rapporteurs? needs some plenary as well?

id 'issue rapporteurs' in advance who can help prepare these as inputs to this session

Session 9 not discussed

Session 10 filling the gaps

session 8 session output is to help formulate 'pitches' for this 'dragon's den' session.

need John to allocate some real money? from core? for project development / seed grants?

Session 11 how to do this how to make it funny?

what's the mechanism to get something going?

need to ID someone to lead it.

General Issue

Need to have a way to capture what comes out from all the sessions? - does this fall on the session organisers? - or issue rapporteurs
